Market Awaits New Nonstimulant Options for Attention Deficit Disorder

ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder remains a controversial diagnosis. Despite many guidelines and attempts at objectivity, an international consensus has not been reached on the nature of this affliction. Even if we exclude the minority view that ADHD is not a real medical condition, large discrepancies remain between various constituencies. Many believe the condition is real but over-diagnosed or vastly over-medicated; while others seem to think it is widely ignored and under-diagnosed. PsychoGenics: Leveraging Animal Behavior Expertise to Identify New Treatments
PsychoGenics, Inc. was founded 10 years ago by the well respected addiction researcher Eric Nestler, MD, PhD, and Henry Jarecki, MD.  Dr. Nestler, Professor of Neuroscience and Director of the Mount Sinai Brain Institute, recognized the need for a company that would provide CNS behavioral testing services in rodents. They now have over 100 clients. Over the past ten years, the company has developed more than 50 validated in vivo tests. It has also realized it could leverage its expertise in behavior to build a sustainable competitive advantage in drug discovery...

Market Highlights: Holiday Buying Begins

Many companies with partnering agreements will see that they can save money in milestone payments and ensure continuation of product development by simply buying the company. Anticipation of buyouts is likely to provide a rebound in some stock prices. We are publishing the full “Neurotech Universe” of public companies on the three major exchanges this month (see page 15) to highlight opportunities across the sector...
